'AFK' Cancels Season 3 Kickstarter During Pandemic

The decision was made to cancel the crowdfund until the pandemic subsides.

As the Coronavirus pandemic continues its stranglehold over day-to-day life around the world, some TTRPG-related projects, podcasts and dice vendors have had to put a hold on their plans.

Such is the case with AFK: The Webseries, the fantasy story we've been following since D20NN launched last year.

AFK had launched a Kickstarter in March to fund the third and final season of the series; but on Friday (Saturday in their local New Zealand time), the decision was made to cancel the crowdfund until the pandemic subsides.

The following is the complete statement as posted by Peter Haynes, writer/director of the series:

We find ourselves in an unprecedented global emergency. The uncertainty of daily life is taking a toll on everyone, physically, mentally and financially. Livelihoods, lifestyles and even lives are being threatened on a scale never before seen in recoded history.
It is with this in mind that the producers, cast and crew of AFK have all come to an agreement to immediately suspend our Season 3 crowdfunding campaign. We value and cherish every coin you have pledged to us to continue our story, but right now, while you are all facing the unknown is the wrong time to ask anyone for money not related to daily survival and making sure your loved ones are being taken care of.
This is NOT the end of AFK. We promise you that as soon as we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, that we will be back on the campaign trail to fund our final season. The extra few months will allow us to focus on getting through this together and make sure we can deliver the best possible conclusion to our story.
In closing, Please take care of yourselves, your family, your friends. Be kind to one another, lift those who have stumbled or fallen and do not be afraid to extend your hand when you stumble. We are all in this together. We will get through it and emerge stronger, hopefully smarter and as better humans
We shall return.
