Rumored Full Backwards Compatibility with Next-Gen Consoles Could Give Old RPGs New Life
We generally don't report on video games, but with as many PSone and Xbox owners and collectors as we know there are out there, this garners some attention.
ComicBook.com is reporting via insider @HipHopGaming that Sony's upcoming Playstation 5 console will include an enhanced compatibility engine that will be capable of handling nearly the entire back catalog of games, right down to the original console.
This falls in line with other reports stating Microsoft's Xbox Series X will similarly provide HD and 4K support for its back catalog.
For Dungeons & Dragons fans who haven't bought and downloaded console ports such as the D&D Classics Enhanced series, and who have been clinging on dearly to their original discs of games like D&D Heroes and Iron & Blood... there may be life coming to your treasured games.
Sony hasn't confirmed this feature of their console as of yet, but as ComicBook.com says, HipHopGaming's information has generally been accurate and reliable in the past.
